Summary of the Position :

We are seeking a highly motivated Legal Affairs Manager to join our Legal department in Gaithersburg, MD to help meet our fast-growing Employment & Litigation needs. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight years of paralegal experience with a focus on litigation and discovery, as well as experience managing vendors or third parties in connection with various projects. The position will report to our Director, Litigation & Employment.

This job is based in Gaithersburg, Maryland and offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
  • Manage and track cases, including, where appropriate, cases submitted to our third party administrator.
  • Review and analyze FOIA related inquiries from various government agencies, including foreign governments, and coordinate with attorneys to prepare responses.
  • Oversee implementation and management of the Records Retention Policy
  • Track legal updates to local and federal employment-related laws, conduct discrete research, create presentations and training materials for business leaders
  • Assist with implementing and managing legal holds & coordinate e-discovery
  • Manage receipt of legal process and coordinate responses to third party subpoenas and other inquiries received by the legal department.
  • Organize legal files, track expenses and, where appropriate, coordinate with insurance broker relating to claims
  • Work closely with members of the Legal Department to assist with special projects

Minimum requirements :
  • Minimum of eight years of relevant experience at a law firm or within an in-house corporate legal department
  • Litigation experience and familiarity with e-discovery
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Excellent attention to detail, great at managing projects, prioritizing tasks and identifying and solving problems
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic organization and adept at working cross-functionally
  • Resourceful and eager continue to grow and learn
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and customer service skills
  • Proactive, energetic, and hardworking team player
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tight deadlines in a fast-paced business environment
