Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support the execution of the Lab Equipment Maintenance Strategy across the organization and the delivery of the agreed goals which will include asset performance and total cost of ownership improvement.
To keep informed of the scientific and technical developments relevant to the group’s activities bringing innovation into Charles River. Support the implementation of new/existing technology and ways of working to predict equipment failure and optimize maintenance strategies (track, analyze and report)
Support the development and deployment of best practice across the organization.
Work with our suppliers and our internal procurement teams, to identify improvement opportunities and deliver value.
Support the creation and maintenance of the Charles River Reliability Excellence toolbox with respect to Lab Equipment Maintenance.
Support, coach and develop our teams to achieve excellent asset performance.
Work with site teams to capture and maintain accurate LEM asset inventories, to include updates for new purchases and asset transfers and retirements.
Use data to target improvement areas and report on key performance indicators.
Identify chronic equipment deficiencies and PM gaps through “Bad Actor” analysis and reporting.
Facilitate and lead root cause analysis investigations to eliminate failures using industry-recognized methods. Develops solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect equipment, which may include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues, by applying data analysis techniques (statistical process control, reliability modeling and prediction, fault tree analysis, Six Sigma (6σ) methodology, etc.), root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode effect analysis (FMEA).
Optimize equipment maintenance strategies based on risk (e.g., PM, PdM, Part availability, TPM, OAC, OEM support).
Develop, maintain, and update essential guidance on maintenance and reliability documentation (e.g., SOP, Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Condition based maintenance, KPIs) for critical equipment.
Help to develop future functionality of our CMMS system in conjunction with CMMS administration team and site operation teams.
Provide reliability maintenance input to Project Engineering Design and equipment selection through the application of Life Cycle Costing.
Actively participate and provide input and feedback for the Charles River Safety Program to meet Health and Safety regulations and OSHA requirements in all duties.
Comply with requirements from Charles River Safety Program including Health and Safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
Participate and provide support for audits.

Profile and Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, engineering or computer sciences is preferred
Essential Experience: Proven experience (5 yrs +) in an equivalent or related position with knowledge of Lab Equipment Maintenance, reliability improvement techniques, problem solving and maintenance strategies
5 yrs Experience of working in cGXP environment
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Other: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports. Excellent collaboration, and persuasion skills with the ability to lead teamsof individuals who have diverse backgrounds and opinions. Ability to interact professionally and comfortably with Senior Leadership. Proficient in project scheduling, Power BI, MS Office Suite Working knowledge of CMMS and electronic lab note book systems would be an advantage.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and work/type at a computer.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Hybrid - Ability to work from home or at one of our sites which will have general office working conditions; the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. However due to the nature of the role the position will also involve entering environments such as plant rooms where the conditions may be noisy for example and will need the application of personal protective equipment such as ear defenders as part of the risk control measures for safe entry

Comments:
This position can be based from home and requires regular domestic and occasional international travel.
