Job Summary

We are currently looking to recruit a Financial Controller to work with our Finance Director at our site near Tranent, East Lothian.

This role will maximise Operating Income and grow margins through resource efficiencies, strategic cost projects and profitability from both price and cost reductions.The role has a major focus on business partnering and understanding the business to accelerate high margin and high growth business opportunities.The role will also drive forward and project manage cost saving projects such as sub-contract use and utility volume consumption.The role requires a deep reach into the organisation to deliver meaningful change that enhances the operation through step change.

The key responsibilities are:

Commercial Business Partnering:strategically review the opportunities in Sales Force with the Operations departmental growth plans to generate commercial focus.

Drive Incremental Margins:Review and challenge lower quartile margins to increase price and/or strategically lower delivery costs.

Enhance Operational Analytics:Produce new and enhanced meaningful monthly management reporting including forecasting for senior management review.

Department Resource Optimisation:Review KPI's and resource metrics regularly with Operations, to drive organisational efficiency.

Disciplined Cost Centre Reporting:Establish a routine discipline and regular cadence with cost centre owners, then initiate joint action plans to improve.

Execute Efficiency Projects:run large scale, deep lean projects to reduce the usage of key spend areas.

Site Forecast Evolution:Deliver the weekly, monthly, quarterly forecast submissions.

Forecast analytics:Reconciling and explaining slippage in backlogs on a routine basis to identify trends and patterns.

Monthly Financial Close:Close the month-end, including accruals, revenue reviews and variance analysis with commentary for management reporting and SOX Corporate reporting.

Annual Plan Production:Deliver the annual plan submission.

The minimum requirements for the role are as follows:
  • A qualified Accountant - ACCA/ICAS/ICAEW/CIMA
  • Experience in a similar position in an international environment (multinational preferably)
  • Strong analytical and good communication skills
  • Accustomed to communicating and reporting to senior management
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills
  • Strong FP&A/commercial finance exposure and P&L ownership
  • Project finance lead experience
  • Supervisory and/or people management experience advantageous
  • Experience of SAP or other ERP systems and Group Reporting packages
  • Knowledge and experience of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence software packages
  • Power BI knowledge would be appreciated


Salary for this position will be dependent on skills and experience.
