Senior Accounting Manager

P PD are looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to join our team based in Cambridge. In this role you will support the Global Controllership team in accounting for the activities of the Group. Whilst you will have a particular focus on the EMEA group, you will be expected to work as part of a global team, working in all regions of the world. This includes providing technical accounting support for complex subjects, reviewing/maintaining the US GAAP accounts (working with the Finance Shared Service Centre) for assigned entities as well as working with cross functional teams to reinforce the internal control environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures organizational adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other regulatory requirements. Ensures timely preparation and review of all required regulatory filings. Reviews work submitted by accountants and manages accounting close processes. Performs analysis on organizational or business unit financial and accounting metrics for presentation to leadership. Coordinates and leads daily team activities.. Assists with management decisions and activities.
  • Prepares and / or reviews prepared journal entries and financials.
  • Performs various account and business unit analyses.
  • Reconciles accounts.
  • Assists in the preparation of month- end and year-end financial statements and general control activities.
  • Works with accounting team to prepare quarterly accruals.
  • Assists in miscellaneous month end and year end close activities.
  • Identifies exposures and recommends corrective action to management.
  • Evaluates and monitors process controls to ensure compliance with SOX including internal controls.
  • Responds to information requests from staff at all levels and all functions within PPD.
  • Completes special projects as directed.
  • Prepares reports to management summarizing activities.


Education and Experience:

· Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8+ years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education, training, & experience.
· 2+ years of management responsibility
· Qualified Accountant; ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

• Strong, proven, technical knowledge of US GAAP and /or IFRS
• Proficient in problem solving and prioritizing
• Work effectively with all levels of employees

• Strong knowledge of approved accounting practices including financial statement information and preparation of financial reports and statistics
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills for analysis and presentation of data

• Ability to multi-task and handle pressure
• Fluent in English, other language(s) desirable
