MICROBIOLOGIST, MEDICAL DEVICE, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, PERMANENT

Headquartered in Cambridgeshire, this Top 5 global healthcare Medical Device organisation has been at the forefront of research and development in the sector, pioneering significant medical innovations that have changed healthcare forever. Delivering leading acute, nutritional, renal and surgical innovations, our Client is committed to transforming global healthcare for years to come. They have asked me to identify their next Microbiologist to strengthen their Microbiology division as they look to take their manufacturing processes to the next level. This is a truly outstanding opportunity for a Microbiologist from a highly regulated industry to take the next step in their Life Sciences career!

What will your daily responsibilities include?

Working to GLP, GMP and GDP, your primary role will be to conduct microbiological tests through various method testing and analysis techniques using the relevant laboratory equipment. You will have ownership of a function which is rotated every 6 months and within that function you will complete testing, investigations, and ensure all required documents and paperwork relating to the day's testing and work is up to date and correct.

Through collaboration with peers, you will also support and encourage continuous improvements in the laboratory and take part in business-critical laboratory investigation to ensure GMP and sterility assurance. Whilst you will be working as part of a hardworking, high-performing team with a strong bond, you will have fantastic role autonomy, leading your assigned line of testing (in rotation) for investigations, continuous improvement, training and troubleshooting requirements. When required, you will also deputise for Senior Microbiologists and Management and participate in audits.

In this role, you will be encouraged to broaden your skillset to meet the demands of an ever-changing work environment, providing yourself with development opportunities (training, mentorship programmes) in order to achieve personal and professional goals.

To thrive in this role, you must have:

  • Microbiologist qualification (BSc or above)
  • At least 2 years' experience in a Microbiologist role
  • High volume bioburden testing experience
  • Experience of performing endotoxin/ sterility testing and analysis
  • Appreciation of GMP/GLP guidelines
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal) and proven leadership skills
