Location: Atlanta, Georgia

Schedule: Full-Time

TalentSource Life Sciences is currently searching for an experienced Medical Communications Lead to join one of our partner companies - a leading international biopharma in Georgia, US.

This is a permanent role with TalentSource and the successful candidate will be working on studies dedicated to one client. As a client-facing role, we are looking for confident candidates with the ability to work independently whilst establishing a high-trust environment with the client counter-parts.

Key accountabilities

The Medical Communications Lead will develop, maintain and apply therapeutic area and product knowledge to service as a valuable partner to internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for promoting the safe and effective use of products through timely communication, written and verbal, of scientific accurate and balanced content related to complex medical and scientific concepts, treatment options, data and emerging standards of care, for scientific exchange activities with healthcare providers and other customers.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of therapeutic area and product knowledge
  • Serve as a scientific resource for internal stakeholders
  • Apply scientific and product knowledge and synthesizes complex data to communicate in understandable and useful formats, written and verbal, to individuals and groups
  • Responds to unsolicited requests for medical information from Healthcare Providers and other external stakeholders
  • Conduct comprehensive searches and critically evaluates medical and scientific literature
  • Develop timely written medical information response documents (i.e. standard response letters, Medicaid Summaries, AMCP Formulary Dossiers) that are comprehensive, cohesive, focused on key information relevant to specific request and consistent with department style guide
  • Lead database planning and launch activities to ensure an accurate and up-to-date Enclosure and standard response letter repository
  • Lead daily management of Medical Information mailbox to ensure all escalated spontaneous Medical Information requests are addressed accordingly
  • Establish relationships and builds credibility with internal and external customers based on exchange of appropriate scientific, medical and/or product-specific information
  • Provide support to scientific publications, as appropriate
  • Provide support and review scientific and promotional materials (with medical sign-off) in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory colleagues, for cross-core teams, as needed
  • Engage in the planning and execution of congress activities (e.g. Medical Booth support, Congress Lead, Topic Team Lead, other)
  • Provide support for scientific training activities and collaborates to deliver new hire and advanced presentations on disease state and product clinical data
  • Lead planning and execution of Medical Communication Initiatives
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to legal and regulatory issues that affects industry-based medical affairs practice
  • Managed vendor relationships, as appropriate
  • Operate at the highest level of compliance and professional standards.
  • Participate in other projects/duties as assigned


Experience, Skills, Knowledge
  • Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, MD or PhD) in Life Sciences.
  • Significant previous experience in a similar role in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Previous MSL or other field Medical Affairs experience preferred.
  • Relevant therapeutic and clinical experience - Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Dermatology or General Immunology.
  • Experience with product launch experience.
  • Excellent Medical Writing ability and the ability to understand, analyse/interpret and summarize highly complex scientific data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in the use of English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Proficient literature searching skills.
  • Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of pharmaceutical industry.
  • Must be a strong team player and be willing to work in an environment where individual initiative and accountability are required.
  • Ability to lead projects with a proactive and collaborative approach towards problem-solving.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings
  • Self-motivated, proactive and ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in a positive, courteous and professional manner.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint) and bibliographic management software (i.e. Reference Manager, EndNote).
  • Occasional overnight travel, of up to 20% required
