Job Summary

We are currently looking to hire a Senior Director - Medical Operations for the Americas.

This is a home based position with 50% travel.

This role will provide overall accountability for Operational Excellence including efficiency, quality and performance of our Research Physicians within the Region.This role will be instrumental in driving Operational Excellence by implementing strategies to enhance the quality of medical care and commercial site delivery.

Role Responsibility

Key roles and responsibilities for the Senior Director - Medical Operations are as follows -
  • Implementation of Risk Overview & Safety Review processes
  • Be the key contact for our Chief Medical Officer on medical operations, new projects, etc.
  • Implement the medical strategy and direction of clinical trials, processes and procedures within the region
  • Provide medical expertise and communicate in a manner consistent with our purpose, mission, strategy and principles
  • Develop and implement the continuous improvement of Research Physician Operating Standards
  • Monitor and grow the engagement of the medical team
  • Manage country specific medical regulatory requirements within the Region
  • Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), medical/scientific tools, training, staffing requirements, etc.
  • Interact with senior management and contributes scientific/medical input to other departments, as appropriate
  • Participate in customer proposals, presentations, proposal defences and Steering Committees
  • Act as a primary senior-level contact for customers as part of the Senior CMO leadership team
  • Ensure quality standards are set and maintained over all your areas of responsibility
  • 50% travel

Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this strategic opportunity you will need the following skills & experience -
  • Ideally qualified with a Medical Degree andsignificant, relevant experience
  • A proven track record of leading, engaging & motivating a team of Physicians/Doctors across multiple locations/regions
  • Demonstrable executive leadership experience in medical field
  • Solid understanding of the clinical regulations as well as practical knowledge of common local, medical practices and treatment habits
  • Advanced understanding of clinical medicine/clinical pharmacology, and associated disciplines and drug development principles
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain scientific credibility while being commercially supportive, and to communicate scientific results and effectively respond to data queries from customers and/or consultants
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written English language communication skills
  • Ability to conduct sophisticated and creative analysis of complex data and translate the results into actionable deliverables, messages, and presentations
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and to practice strong organizational skills when faced with multiple, time-sensitive priorities
  • Ability to multitask and operate within a deadline driven, matrix environment
