Role:Safety Manager 

Location: East Midlands

Salary:Negotiable

 

As Safety Manager you are responsible for implementing the safety strategy across Global Consumer Brands cosmetic and OTC products and to ensure safety of products throughout their lifecycle.

 

Your in depth expertise in safety and toxicology and ability to translate complex concepts into clear business communication with consumers at its heart will enable you to manage product safety.

 

You will develop and use your network and external sources to ensure you and safety assessments are abreast of the latest cosmetics safety insights. 

 

You will network widely and amongst others work collaboratively with Head of Innovation, Head of Research & Development, Head of Delivery, Head of Compliance, Head of Brands, Senior Regulatory Manager, Senior Quality Manager, Head of Customer Care, Global Sourcing technical, Customer Care, Legal, Programme and Project Managers.

Your Responsibilities

 

Responsible for all safety activities in NPD, to provide the final safety assessment for product launch and to ensure that products on the markets are safe through the lifecycle

Responsible for the delivery of the safety assessment of innovation activities

Responsible for the further development and maintenance of safety frameworks

Build a strong network of safety experts in various fields to ensure access on demand to state of the art expertise

Responsible to define the safety operating standards which define the safety of Global Consumer Brands cosmetic/OTC products and all procedures underpinning them

Drive competitive advantage through the application of safety expertise in customer offerings

Responsible for the safety aspects of suppliers approval, management and development

Build scientific expertise in safety fields and technologies to drive continuous improvement of the products and protect the brands and business

Implement the safety integration of new brands to ensure alignment with Global Consumer Brands guidelines and principles

Represent on expert’s committees to drive and lobby for agenda

Train the technical and commercial teams on basic safety knowledge to ensure awareness of the importance of safety for customer protection

 

 

A bit about you

 

 A post-graduate qualification or equivalent in Toxicology or a related life-science subject

Minimum five years experience working within the cosmetic industry with extensive knowledge and experience of cosmetic safety assessment

Solution oriented and able to work with multidisciplinary team

Communication skills, ability to connect with other departments in order to build the vision

Clear project leadership skills required to lead and manage the safety assessment contribution to a portfolio of projects, ability to operate with sensitivity and flexibility within an ever-evolving organisational matrix of project and line management, both functionally and across the business

Significant skills of influencing and persuasion

Willingness to challenge conventional thinking and implement creative ideas balanced with a high regard and understanding for the framework in which company operates is required
