Brief Description

• Provides telephonic professional nursing services, in support of client funded contracts, designed to support patients currently prescribed manufacturer-specific pharmaceutical products. Services include: telephonic patient support, product resource, triage and referral to program resources, data collection, and clinical education to patients, consumers and healthcare professionals. Works under moderate supervision.

Specific Job Duties

• Patient Support: Make outbound phone calls to patients who have enrolled in a patient support program, make additional calls as directed and be available to support these patients by phone at all other times.

• Receive inbound phone calls from patients, healthcare professionals and consumers and provide a professional educational resource for program and product inquiries.

• Provide exceptional customer service to all callers.

• Resource: Assess caller needs to determine best course of action. Answer patient, consumer and healthcare professional questions and suggest appropriate resources for other patient needs.

• Referral Source: Make appropriate referrals for additional training, support groups, program materials, or literature using client-approved resources. The Nurse Clinician RN does not give medical advice and will recommend that patients contact their healthcare provider for additional information, directions and care.

• Collect Data: Document accurate, timely, clear data and complete summary of phone calls, patient or customer inquiries, and call outcomes. Complete follow-up activities, communication, and documentation as needed.

• Educator: Provide relevant patient education according to program guidelines and utilizing client-approved resources.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

• Required: Associate's Degree or equivalent

• Required: Registered Nurse License (current and valid) in the state of practice.
  • KS RN License will be required upon hire

• Experience: Minimum - 2 to 5 years' experience as an RN

• Preferred Experience: Insurance, pharmaceutical support, customer service and/or telephonic customer support preferred.

• Computer Skills: Proficiency in electronic database documentation, computer navigation, electronic communication, Microsoft Office applications, and web-based applications.

• Excellent customer service skills with adherence to approved scripted materials.

• Assess customer needs over the phone and through excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to multi-task, maintaining a high level of customer interaction while conducting PC and Phone related activities.
