Role

He/she is responsible and accountable for leading, managing, overseeing and executing sourcing and contracting activities for assigned studies and/or projects/programs within the Medical and Development organization.

Main Responsibilities

- Leads cross-functional teams to develop and execute Category Management
- Lead supplier identification and selection process at the category and project level
- Negotiates commercial business terms for MSA and project-level contracts including but not limited to rates and payment milestones
- Pro-actively plan sourcing projects through collaboration with key internal stakeholders
- Generate and track costs reductions and optimizes spend
- Execution on sourcing / contracting activities within category strategy
- Responsible for managing (drafting, editing, reviewing, analysing, negotiating) the commercial terms of study or project level agreements based on approved company templates
- Oversee and provide project level management support of preferred/strategic Service Providers providing Clinical contracting support
- Lead the development / implementation of methods to measure cost effectiveness and efficiencies to ensure value (track and, report on, department metrics, KPIs and predict budget trends) of the project
- Responsible for leading and guiding sourcing activities for drug development. Duties include managing end to end process from the identification of a sourcing need through contract execution including drafting project scope documents; reviewing and recommending potential Service Providers; preparing, distributing, and managing RFIs and RFPs; conducting RFP response analysis and preparing scoring summary documents to guide decisions regarding outsourcing solutions

Skills/Requirements

- Bachelors Degree required, 2+ years of pharmaceutical contracts and outsourcing experience or 6 years of CRO or other significant Service Provider experience
- Prior category management experience (preferably Clinical but open to other categories)
- Medical Affairs (particularly health economics, PV or Regulatory Affairs experience)
- Experience leading global cross functional initiatives
- Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the drug development sourcing process (RFI, RFP, bid defense meetings and related process steps)
- Experience in rate analysis and costing structures (fixed fee, unit pricing, etc.)
- Previous experience in CRO environment in proposal development, procurement or clinical operations
- Expert in contracting and sourcing best practices, and industry marketplace (CROs, Central Labs, IVRS, etc.)
- Expertise in budgets and/or financial analysis
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
