Medical Director – CRO (Communications Team)

I am currently recruiting for a leading Contract Research Organisation with a solid, 45 people strong, medical and patient communications team in-house. A huge, successful company with over 60,000 people and experts worldwide, they focus on delivering more effective healthcare delivery in a unique way to provide better patient outcomes across the globe. In the comms team, you can expect to work with digital experts, creatives, writers, event managers, scientific editors and project managers. They work with Pharma, med-tech, biotech, plus NGOs and Governments. They have recently worked with Africa to reduced mortality rates for mothers and babies during labour which saved many lives and is something they are very proud of.

Medical Director

As the Medical Director, you will work heavily with the commercial team to draw on expertise, liaise with centres of excellence and build relationships with experts throughout the industry. You will work with the company’s strategy department and be involved in high-level meetings and be the most senior person in the UK office whilst reporting into the head of Medical in the US. The background of the ideal candidate would be someone from a Medical Communications agency, with a minimum of 8 years’ experience (ideally more). Ideally, you will have an editorial background and preferably a PhD. This role involves some travel, likely around 10% and you will line manage the Principal Medical Writers in the team.

This company can offer flexible working arrangements, and you could be based from, either the Reading or central London offices.
