GLOBAL SALES MANAGER (TRAINING, CONSULTANCY & INSTRUMENTS)

Hampshire/ Slough with extensive International Travel

Our client is a global market leader in lyophilisation analytical instrumentation. They provide analytical and process development consultancy and services and carry out collective and bespoke training in all aspects of lyophilisation theory and practice, on a worldwide basis. As part of our clients rolling development plan and investment strategy they have exceeded ambitious targets and continue to grow. Our client distributes a wide range of process development, training and instrumentation products either directly or via a network of carefully chosen agents.

The GSM role has become available due to internal promotion. The primary focus is to deliver their range of process development services, training and instrumentation products within Europe and to supervise sales delivery through carefully chosen agents and directly in Asia, Pacific and US time zones.

The Global Sales Manager will be the “product champion” for process development services in all time zones, reporting to the Group Sales Director. Where commercially desirable the Global Sales Manager will have the option of appointing local agents as an alternative to a direct sales model.

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced GSM who will build on the success across the EU and Scandinavian territories, continue to develop the East European, Middle East and African markets, and improve performance through agency sales in the Asian and Pacific Time Zones. In the US, the GSM will work with the Group Sales Director and local US Sales Manager to build a successful model of direct sales and sales via the SP sales network.

We are looking for;

  •  demonstrable track record in life science service and products sales in pharmaceutical and life science market
  • International experience with various countries and culture relationship management
  • The ability to assimilate new technological processes quickly and be able to articulate them to customers in a competent fashion
  • Be a self starter who is able to work to an agreed sales and business plan without day to day supervision
  • Have the drive to take the product range to new markets with a view to becoming the dominant supplier
  • Be able to tailor the product range to global markets and to identify and propose new products and services relevant to those markets.
  • Able to combine direct sales experience with a channel management capability.
  • Can motivate and enthuse a small team and lead “from the front” and by example.
  • Good level of foreign languages (French, German, Spanish) would be an advantage

An understanding of lyophilisation and the large molecule marketplace would be an advantage but a full technical training programme will be supplied. Our clients service range covers all stages of product development from proof of concept, product development, trialling and transfer to production.

In order to deliver the sales targets for these products the GSM will have the following resources.
• 2 Instrument Sales Executives: The “product champion” for the instrument product area worldwide
• Training Sales Executive: The “product champion” for the training product portfolio worldwide.
• 2 Consultancy Sales Executives: To assist in the identification of customer scopes of work, and preparation of quotes, a second position is being created.
• Instrument Research and Engineering Assistant


BUDGETARY AND BUSINESS PLANNING:
- To be able to develop a demanding but deliverable annual sales budget  reinforced by a practical business plan to deliver this target
MARKETING: In conjunction with the Group Marketing Manager :
- To identify suitable marketing channels to deliver key product messages to all time zones
- To participate in the monthly sales and marketing review
- To attend trade shows and exhibitions to promote the products in the Global area.
LEAD MANAGEMENT:
- To respond to all inbound leads for which the GSM is product champion
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
- As part of the business planning function, to develop a rolling 6 month business development plan for execution by the team and agree the same with the Group Sales Director
BUSINESS BUILDING:
- In conjunction with the Group Sales Director to identify all and every ways of building the business in the Global area to maximise profit and to put the same into practice.
