Director Process Development

I am currently partnering with one of the fastest growing Biological groups as we help expand a key new division within the group. Currently my client is now looking to expand their Viral Vector portfolio and this role has been newly created within the group to focus on process design and development. In this unique and innovative position, the successful applicant will lead the development of a new team which they will create; set up new and robust processes linked to Viral Vector development and act as a Key Technical leader on a global basis.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic design and implementation for process development plans linked to Viral Vector development
• Key technical lead for Process development through direct and indirect methods (hands-on and through team members)
• Oversee technology and manufacturing process transfer, providing product for applicable clinical trials as required
• Integrate process development efforts within my clients organization and ensure all strategies created are in line with the latest methods and future needs
• Plan and manage strategy for process design, optimization, scale-up, technology transfer and process troubleshooting to meet project timelines and company goals
• Use technical knowledge within Viral Vectors to push a variety of complex projects through successfully
• Influence and lead cross-functional groups across the organization
• Recruitment of a new team; coach, develop and manage all team members
• Ensure team members understand the needs of the organization and projects
• Work closely with Senior Leader within Viral Vectors to look at the wider aims of the business
• Act as a global Technical lead within the field

Skills needed

• Can demonstrate at least 5-8 years’ experience working in Process Development with Biological products
• Must have experience working with Viral Vectors or a very closely related field
• Must be educated to at least a BSc level in Biochemical engineering, Biochemistry or a related field
• Technical development skills in Biologics is a must ideally across all phases (early is preferred)
• Can work and lead projects and team members on a cross-functional basis
• Demonstrated experience in leadership is highly preferred
• Key experience working to QbD is also preferred
• Fluent in English
• Can work office based in Germany (Relocation support is given)
