Job purpose:

A global role leading all aspects of design, development and transition of services and solutions for Novartis’ internal shared services organization for commercial, medical and operations services.

The Global Program Lead is primarily responsible for leading significant strategic projects resulting in the delivery of new Product Lifecycle Services (PLS) solutions. The projects are diverse in functionality ranging across commercial and medical operations. The position is ultimately accountable for the success of each project, including for the solution design and overall business case outcome.

Most projects will result in the building of new service delivery teams in PLS delivery centers (currently: NGSC Dublin and Hyderabad, Mexico, KL and Prague) and designing solutions for the in-country operations.

Some of the projects will involve restructuring and process redesign in business units and some will replace work currently done by third parties. In other cases it may be necessary to manage the establishment of new outsourced services. In all cases the results are expected to be transformational, improving the overall cost/service outcome for Novartis.

The position requires a leader that is able to facilitate and drive change in a networked environment. Strong interpersonal and networking skills are necessary, as well as an ability to make progress in an environment where there can be significant ambiguity. Key to success in this position is the ability to work within the organization at all levels, working in a “hands on” and practical way.

• Work with Global Process Owners and Service Development PMO to understand the intended scope and approach and convert this into actionable projects
• Assist senior management in the definition and prioritization of projects, continuously challenging the current operating model and identifying further improvement opportunities within and across functions
• Manage and drive major transformation programs and projects
o Drive the solution development and implementation process for a program
o Drive make vs buy decisions and action any resulting offshoring or
outsourcing activities
o Manage the transition process (overseeing the work of Transition
Managers) on an end-to-end basis
o Ensure the solution is properly designed and implemented according to
o Work with functional and IT resources to specify the elements of the
o Challenge and stretch functional and customer teams to do what is
needed to hit the business case
o Ensure that all SLA, quality and risk management activities are
undertaken on the process area
• Support the BSE leads [Account Leads] and Region Heads to
o Track the outcome and savings generated by the projects
o Plan and manage stakeholder engagement, change management and
alignment across the organization
• Build, organize and sustain multi-disciplinary teams – customer, functional, IT, third party

The site was set up in 2013 and is located in a state-of-the-art facility on the Merrion Road in Ballsbridge. The center, one of five globally, delivers a broad variety of services to the Novartis divisions and organizations worldwide. Minimum requirements

• Postgraduate degree in technical or business discipline
• Further education in Change management, Project management, Facilitation /Coaching
• Preferred: Management consulting, Outsourcing or Pharma background


• English
• Preferred: a second major European language

Experience/Professional Requirement:

• A proven change agent with significant project and program management experience
• Ideally this will involving large scale, cross-functional projects across multiple disciplines (sales, marketing, finance, development, technical operations) resulting in significant business impact
• Demonstrated analytical, process-oriented and data driven mindset - A proven ability to manage business cases but to also see beyond the numbers, get straight to the heart of issues and provide insights
• Significant experience, and proven ability to manage, team with, and motivate associates of widely varying backgrounds across a dispersed and matrixed organization
