i-Pharm Consulting are supporting a Global Contract Research Organization in their search for an experienced Medical Information Specialist, to join their Medical Information team.

The world leader in outsourced clinical services solutions, this client can offer the right person excellent job satisfaction and exposure to many career development pathways.

THE ROLE:

As the Medical Information Specialist, you will need a willingness to learn new, relevant skills across Lifecycle Safety. You will also have a good knowledge of medical terminology, with good attention to detail. As the role is so critical to patient safety, accuracy and organizational skills are essential. You should be a good communicator and willing to help less experienced team members

You should have:

* A High School Diploma with five years’ relevant work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or healthcare discipline with two years’ experience
* Alternatively, you should have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
* Although a medical background is not necessary, a life sciences background is beneficial

You will have a range of responsibilities, and these will include:

* Receiving, reviewing and processing all reports from various sources (including patient interviews)
* Summarizing these reports based on information identified as vital to the project
* Concise data entry covering everything from patient symptoms, admission and results – this will include medical terminology, writing narratives, generating case queries, performing quality control, and ensuring reports are sent to the customer within deadlines
* Following up with the patient on topics including symptoms and medication to help identify if this is related to the drug program
* Collaborating with other functional groups within Lifecycle Safety and to ensure deliverables are met
* Communicating with sponsors when required

This role is also a route into the pharmaceutical industry for those who don’t necessarily have a science or medical background. However, due to the nature of the team and the work they do, you would have all the benefits of joining in an industry-recognized best-practice environment. To ensure you contribute to the business, you will also have the training and development to plan and progress your career in the direction you choose.
