Jenni at CK Group is recruiting for a Strategic Planning and Operations Manager to join a company in the Pharmaceutical industry at their site based in Uxbridge on a 12 month contract basis.

The Company:
Our client has been a biotechnology pioneer since 1980. They have grown to be one of the world's leading independent biotechnology companies, reaching millions of patients around the world. Currently they are developing a pipeline of medicines with breakaway potential.

The Location:
This position is based in at their Uxbridge site, which opened in 2007. Uxbridge is located in the heart of the biopharma community west of London. It is ideally situated for easy access to all that central London has to offer. Uxbridge also boasts a significant and growing business population and is conveniently located just 15 minutes from Heathrow Airport.

The Role:
The Strategic Planning and Operations Manager sits within the EU Observational Research group and will be responsible for the management of smooth operational activities and strategic projects for the department. This role is a multi-functional role with the candidate representing the observational research department in many areas. It is strategic in nature and an Epidemiology background is not required but Project Management experience is essential.

Key duties include:
• Oversight of all daily operational activities within the EU observational group
• Interactions with key stakeholders within the function e.g. epidemiologists, Programmers and also across the organisation
• Working in a dynamic environment to help navigate the matrix and position the EU observational research function across the organisation to establish visibility
• Collaborate and influence as a strategic advisor on behalf of the EU observational research function to ensure that the department fits into company policies and processes
• Listen, advice, support and resolve issues on behalf of the observational research function
• Management of internal or external projects including the allocation of resources, coordination and direction of project team members and workload
• Manage and execute strategic process improvement projects on behalf of the EU observational research ensuring a team is established with clear objectives and deliverables
• Communication to senior stakeholders and project sponsors keeping relevant individuals appraised of project miles stones and performance against objectives
• Responsible for providing high-quality support to the observational research team
• Help the EU observational research director to bridge the knowledge between what's happening on the ground versus strategic alignment within the EU region

Your Background:
To be considered for this role, you should have the following skills, knowledge and experince:
• Degree qualified BA/BS/BSc
• Commercial experience in life sciences or medically related field
• Experience within project management
• Expertise in running medium to large scale projects
• Excellent understanding of project management processes and procedures
• Business process development and/or change management skills
• Experience in research to support drug development
• Understanding of systems for sharing and collaboration
• Able to Negotiate, Influence, Collaborate, engage with stakeholders, navigate the matrix, etc
• Good time management and planning skills
• Good critical thinking and leveraging networks
• Scientific/Technical excellence
• Excellent written and oral communication
