Lead Architect, Safety Risk Management

Safety informatics is the IT group supporting the Roche Pharma Development business unit for Safety Risk Management, aka Drug Safety. We're looking for a new Lead Architect to augment our team, being accountable for the solution design (technical and information architecture) for our entire portfolio as well as designing the next generation of information-centric solutions that will support the Safety Risk Management Organisation and user's evolving business needs.

Your main responsibilities for this role would be:
  • High-level understanding of Pharmacovigilance industry trends, health authorities regulations/guidance, business processes and systems within Safety and across business functions at Roche.
  • Accountability to create and maintain technical roadmaps and works with Solution & Information Architects, Lead Software Engineer, Business Solution Managers, Enterprise Architect and Portfolio Architect to achieve this.
  • To represent Safety Risk Management in Solution Architect Council and Enterprise Architecture Review Board and ensure an effective bi-directional communication and information exchange
  • Provide functional leadership and guidance to Solution Architects, Information Architects  and Software Architects within Safety Informatics to identify and design optimum solution options that support business needs, and ensure re-usable, scalable and cost effective informatics solutions.
  • Drive innovation in systems & technology by proof-of-concepts pilots and vendor evaluations, as well as drive innovation in processes and methods.
  • Accountable to maintain appropriate standards in our area, including Security, Disaster Recovery, and effective monitoring is in place for Safety Informatics solutions
  • Provision technical leadership and consultancy to support the Safety Informatics Portfolio, and for business to understand capabilities best supporting the strategic direction minimizing the technical debt.
  • As a member of the Safety Informatics Leadership team, drive the strategic direction of the team and our services.
  • Ensure all our solutions are in a healthy and technically defendable state. Oversight of software design to ensure healthy design, meeting expectations on sustainability and effectiveness.

For this position, you bring the following qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, software engineering or similar, with extensive experience working in Software Development Lifecycle activities in the Pharma industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with the concept and execution of computer systems validation in the IT industry, ensuring consistency in policies and procedures.
  • Architect certification is required, and basic project management skills are preferred.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills and a service minded attitude.
  • Quick and eager to learn and take on new challenges, and with a high strive for process optimization and attention to detail.
  • Leadership skills; Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, with strong focus on inclusive team behavior, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to learn new processes and relate to business processes with information entities and to understand technical capabilities and constraints.
  • Ability to abstract information entities at high level to support business processes and low level for solution design.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks like TOGAF
  • Familiarity of Data Privacy and Data Protection standards and regulations from various health authorities
