About the Role
Our client is a small company in the biopharmaceutical sector is seeking an experienced Controller to join their finance team. This role is integral in overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to drive organizational growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong financial management background within the biopharmaceutical industry, with particular expertise in clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Develop and enforce internal controls and policies to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, including SEC filings.
- Lead engagement with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Oversee the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
- Manage financial aspects of clinical trials, including budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and propose improvement strategies.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth and development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Background in the biopharmaceutical industry is essential; clinical-stage company experience strongly preferred.
- Expertise in GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in NetSuite or similar financial systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration across teams.
- Occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and business-related activities may be required.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $220,000 to $300,000 per year. The final offer will be based on experience, education, and skills relevant to the role.
