UK - Research Scientist

Hobson Prior is seeking a skilled Research Scientist to join a dedicated department. In this role, the successful candidate will focus on various recombinant proteins for structural studies. This is an exciting opportunity to help significantly with drug discovery projects.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the expression and purification of recombinant proteins, including multi-pass membrane proteins, for structural studies.
• Communicate effectively within the protein group and across multiple disciplines, ensuring clear relay of work progress, technical issues, and potential solutions.
• Stay updated with and implement new technologies in protein expression and purification, particularly for recombinant proteins.

Key Skills & Requirements:

• Proficiency with insect and mammalian cell expression systems.
• Independence in purification techniques such as affinity chromatography, ion exchange, SEC, and HIC.
• Extensive experience with AKTA purification platforms and associated software.
• Strong knowledge of software for manipulating protein and DNA sequences (e.g., VNTI) and molecular visualization of proteins (e.g., PyMOL).
• Excellent understanding of the literature on generating recombinant proteins, including multi-pass membrane proteins, for structural studies.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
