Barrington James Board & Executive Partners are currently collaborating with a unique research institute who are at the forefront of cutting-edge research and innovation, committed to making a significant impact on patients' lives.


To lead the institute, we are seeking a dynamic and visionary Managing Director, Head of Research & Development to drive the mission forward. As the Managing Director, Head of R&D, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, and scientific direction of the institute. You will work closely with a team of world-class researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to advance our research agenda, secure funding, and translate scientific discoveries into life-changing therapies.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the institute.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of research programs.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative research environment.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with academic institutions, healthcare providers, industry stakeholders, and funding agencies.
  • Ensure the institute's financial sustainability through effective budgeting, fundraising, and grant acquisition.
  • Represent the institute at national and international conferences, meetings, and forums.
  • Promote the dissemination of research findings through publications, presentations, and public outreach.
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of researchers, clinicians, and administrative staff.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards in research.  




  • PhD, MD, or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant scientific or medical field.
  • Proven track record of leadership in a research or academic setting, preferably within the field of rare diseases, dermatology, or cancer.
  • Strong understanding of the scientific, clinical, and regulatory aspects of research.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Visionary mindset with the ability to drive innovation and inspire others.
  • Commitment to the institute's mission and values.
