The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader, Quality Control (QC) Biochemistry to join the great team at Broadmeadows (Australia). In this full-time position, you will manage a team to deliver QC testing in agreement with HSE and GMP principles. You will ensure that the work of the team is executed and delivered on-time and that the completed work satisfies the relevant Regulatory and Quality requirements.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, QC Biochemistry, you will:
  • Maintain a safe working environment by overseeing the adherence to Incident & Hazard Management and Reporting Systems in Laboratory Operations.
  • Lead the QC team, ensuring effective resolution of escalated issues and compliance with systems, reviewing data for proactive improvement. Ensure actions comply with CSL policies.
  • Ensure the testing environment operates according to the established procedures and cGMP principles.
  • Participate in site audits as SME for the assigned testing function.
  • Efficiently execute and deliver analytical services in line with business needs.
  • Actively seek operational efficiencies while maintaining quality standards, and ensure effective collaboration with site and global QC teams.
  • Contribute to the QC Strategic direction by supporting and implementing site, QC and departmental change initiatives.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to ensure controlled and cGMP-compliant implementation of changes, encouraging the use of Risk/Data-based continuous improvement for enhanced compliance, throughput, efficiency, and operational robustness.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the appointed team, and contribute to the leadership of the QC department as a whole.
  • Ensure on-site support, develop staff training strategies, and oversee the completion and maintenance of required Quality Control employee training.

Your skills and experience

To be considered for this role, you have:
  • A Bachelor of Science;
  • 5+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related industry with significant exposure to GMP.
  • 3+ years' experience QC Laboratory.
  • 2+ years' experience managing a team.
  • Experience in biochemistry is preferred, or you should have microbiology or chemistry background.
  • Strong interpersonal skill, strong organizational skills, and influencing skill.
  • A sound understanding of GxP principles and the requirements of specific Codes, especially PICs and US CFR requirements.
