Severe Asthma Nurse - Leeds, Hull & Wakefield

Part-time

As part of this service, you will play a key role in ensuring that patients receive a high standard of care and that clinical outcomes are maintained and improved at every opportunity.

The site that you will be working in will be a specialist tertiary referral service that provides care for patients from across the local area. The multi-disciplinary team includes consultants, specialist nurses, and pharmacists, who are dedicated to the care of patients with severe asthma.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage a delegated caseload of patients, as appropriate within the specialty, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care
  • Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice and support across the whole spectrum of the service focusing on the provision of biologic medicines
  • Demonstrate in-depth specialist knowledge, skills, and innovative practice in the specialist area, ensuring the delivery of appropriate evidence-based care
  • Support, assist and encourage the multi-disciplinary team in resolving complex patient problems, by the provision of new and innovative models of case management
  • Demonstrate appropriate expert practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. This will necessitate high levels of autonomy and advocacy
  • Promote and implement patient-focused education and the information-giving strategy within the specialty
  • Demonstrate continuous evaluation of practice and make changes where appropriate, within the defined speciality

Some experience within Respiratory is required however additional training will be given. The successful applicant must have current NMC registration.

This is not a ward-based role and requires the nurse to have a proven track record as an effective team player, possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a self-motivated way.
