Job Details

As this is a temporary maternity coverage role, there is a distinct list of deliverables to be assigned to the person in the role. This role will be of the level of EHS Specialist I of which the typical duties and responsibilities are noted below.

Provide technical expertise to effectively minimize employee illness and injuries, establish and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable industry standards, and reduce EHS related risk (fires, environmental releases, etc.) to the site via development, implementation and maintenance of programs and processes that strive for EHS excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical expertise, training and guidance to ensure compliance with applicable state/country regulatory and industry standards.
  • Administer, and support development, implementation and maintenance of EHS programs that may include but not limited to day-to-day monitoring of contractors, facility safety, fire safety, lockout/tagout, confined space, respiratory protection, hazardous waste management, emergency planning and response, etc.
  • Provide EHS support and advice on projects, regulation/ best practice, audits and inspections and adverse events.
  • Supports the evaluation of purchases, planned studies and facility modifications to advise and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Ensures the development, deployment and, as necessary, delivery of effective EHS training to supervisors and employees.
  • Contribute to EHS policies, procedures and document creation and reviews
  • Inspects facilities and operations for regulatory and company policy compliance
  • May function as the EHS Site Key Contact, working with the HR Business Partner team.
  • May lead EHS Committee and Team activities, such as department safety teams, emergency response team, etc.
  • Assist in sustainability projects under the direction of the EHS Management
  • Interacts with government agencies and regulators with the support of the EHS lead
  • Prepares and submits regulatory and internal company reports as required, including air permit and wastewater records, emission and hazardous waste reports, injury/illness and other EHS reports.
  • Investigates accidents and spills and identifies corrective measures.
  • Identifies and assesses workplace hazards and implements corrective measures.
  • May act as Emergency Coordinator/Lead Spill Responder.
  • Interacts with government agencies.
  • Communicates effectively with site management and employees.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
