Job Overview
Responsible for supporting the Cambrex Whippany manufacturing and development site financial matters including: the timeliness and accuracy of daily, weekly, monthly & annual accounting and reporting, financial audits, internal financial controls, inventory standards, cash management (AP, AR and Inventory), payroll, budgeting, forecasting & planning and site specific financial decision making support.

Job Overview
Responsible for supporting the Cambrex Whippany manufacturing and development site financial matters including: the timeliness and accuracy of daily, weekly, monthly & annual accounting and reporting, financial audits, internal financial controls, inventory standards, cash management (AP, AR and Inventory), payroll, budgeting, forecasting & planning and site specific financial decision making support.
Responsibilities
- Manage the activities of the site’s finance department to ensure solid finance support to other site department heads, as well as developing and utilizing efficient business processes within the department.
- Manage month-end financial accounting close and maintain control and accuracy of the general ledger according to applicable GAAP guidelines. Coordinate and manage annual audit and half-year review and prepare mandatory financial statements or reports for lenders or others as required. Ensure that adequate financial control procedures are in place and operating effectively. Provide information and support any related tax and government filings.
- Provide site financial management analyzing the monthly financial statements of both the commercial manufacturing and development divisions, providing clear and relevant analysis and performance based reporting. Monitor changes in client orders and business activity. Function as a site leader searching for operational cost efficiencies at all levels, direct labor efficiency, overtime, inventory & non-inventory purchasing, indirect headcount, etc.
- Provide accurate cash forecasting and tight cash management, managing vendor payments, driving DSO target, and working closely with site Supply Chain to manage inventory turns.
- Actively support the budget process (annual and 5-year plans). Work closely with the Controller and Management to develop detailed budgets, forecasts, and capital plans; including the development of product and project costing.
- Participate in acquisition due diligence and integration activities
- Assist the Controller in various projects
Qualifications/Skills
- Degree in Accounting or equivalent with solid understanding of US GAAP
- Excellent planning and forecasting - both financial and supply chain
- Exposure to supply chain with understanding of the manufacturing process
- SAP - Bill of Materials (BOM)/recipe process orders
- Cost accounting background with exposure to inventory/product standards/cycle counts
- Cash Management experience including
- Cash flow forecast (A/R, A/P, payroll)
- Cash application - bank accounts (wires, check, ACH)
- Proficiency with Excel and standard financial data systems
- Ability to partner with management to drive financial performance
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to organize/prioritize
- Must be able to remain sedentary for extended periods of time
- Must be able to move about the facility
Education, Experience & Licensing Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical environment
- 5-8 years working experience in Accounting/Finance Department, preferably in a Manufacturing Environment
- Supervisory experience in general accounting, A/P, A/R, payroll desired.
