Job Summary
A Maintenance Electrician vacancy now exists within the Building/Workshop department based in Tranent. This is a permanent full-time role.This role is to carry out Electrical Maintenance, repairs and installation under the direction and supervision of the Electrical Supervisor or Senior Engineer.
Applicants Must Have:
- Qualified Electrician which must include 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- You must have a full, clean drivers licence and your own transport
- Previous experience working as a Maintenance Electrician
- To be able to participate in overtime as is reasonably required to ensure the smooth running of the department.
- To be available on a rota basis for emergency callouts out of hours
- Ability to interact with peers effectively
- Ability to adopt a methodical approach to work
- Able to interact and communicate professionally with internal and external clients
- Able to deal with people at all levels

Key Responsibilities:
- To carry out an electrical repair and maintenance service to Charles River Laboratories sites.
- To carry out installation of electrical and computer wiring and systems to IEE regulations.
- To carry out portable appliance testing and maintenance of records.
- To maintain electrical equipment.
- To advise scientific staff on use of electrical apparatus and systems.
- To monitor room temperatures and conditions, calibration of temperature and humidity sensors/equipment.
- To alter room controls.
- To participate in Generator Testing and restart equipment.
- To liaise and make themselves familiar with Plant Engineer duties.
- To liaise with service engineers.
- To maintain any necessary legible record of work carried out.
- Fault finding and diagnostic testing.
- Work on high voltage equipment (if qualified).
You will work 36.25 hours per week, 5 days in 7, including weekends. These days/hours will be agreed in advance with your manager.
Please ensure that if you are successful for this position, you are fully able to make your own travel arrangements to and from work during normal working hours and for overtime hours at the weekend, evenings and early mornings (if applicable to your role).
Salary for this role £30,100.00. You will also be expected to participate in the on-call rota. You will receive an on-call allowance, and the details of this will be provided to you, once you commence in post. In the event that the call-out arrangement or your participation therein ceases for any reason, then the payment will be discontinued. The payment will not be included in your salary for pension purposes.
