Driving market access initiatives across Europe and NA and potentially other parts of the world.

Barrington james are partnered with a global medical device company seeking a Head of Market access to join their EU team based out of Germany. This is a brand new position due to company growth and development and so we are looking for a motivated, driven leader with extensive experience in the field to work towards the expansion of the business as their portfolio widens this year.

 

THE POSITION

You will oversee developing and carrying out a global market access strategy, with a preliminary emphasis on Europe and North America. This strategy will need to closely comply with our clinical development plan, medical recommendations specific to each diagnostic and therapeutic indication, and associated federal reimbursement programmes. You will assume the initiative in formulating clinical and financial value propositions for payors and providers in a setting that is both highly demanding and composed of a variety of areas with a wide range of complicated and varying requirements.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Establishing and executing a strategic plan to generate payor value while collaborating with regulatory organisations and medical affairs professionals
  • Mapping the external payor and provider ecosystem, sharing pertinent details about the important markets' reimbursement landscape with internal stakeholders
  • Collaborating closely with local, regional, and international market access experts on dossiers on the economics of health that will be thoroughly evaluated with medical professionals and national officials.
  • Contributing to the preparation of clinical trials and publication strategies to enhance national reimbursement and market uptake
  • Making sure that clinical trials follow the global market access plan and assisting in the detection of the requirement for evidence creation as necessary for improving indication and market access.
  • Contributing to the creation of local marketing materials and ensuring that all marketing and sales initiatives adhere to corporate standards and outside legislation.
  • Keeping abreast of new discoveries in the relevant medical and scientific fields through acquaintance with current literature, conference participation, etc.
  • Improving medical and scientific knowledge and becoming informed of pertinent market and business developments (i.e., competitive, technological, social, and economic)
  • Establishing the global market access team for the organisation as necessary to accomplish strategic and commercial business goals
  • Establishing and maintaining internal and external market access budgets, making sure that spending is properly controlled to meet output and plan

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in a relevant life science discipline, e.g., Health Economics, Public Health, Health Policy
  • 8 + years of experience with AT LEAST 3 of the most recent years being in medical devices with a focus on Market Access and Health Economics.
  • Must have hands on experience leading and developing market access activities for Northern America, Europe, and other global markets.
  • Medical device development and commercialization experience that includes launches, incorporates clinical trial design, and involves working with regulatory authorities
  • A sizable network in the market access context of Europe and North America (e.g., health insurances, regulatory agencies, providers' medical controlling)
  • A thorough knowledge of the medical affairs function, health economics, clinical trial methodology, value proposition, HTA, early access programmes, and reimbursement submissions
  • Knowledge of and practical familiarity with the reimbursement environment in the main European and North American markets.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional and cross-geographical leadership skills, preferably across different markets, nations, and access methods.
  • Knowledge of leading and building successful teams.
  • Strong commercial sense and the capacity for strategic thought.
  • Ability to create and implement strategic plans in a “green field” environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to self-manage efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written (German a plus).
