Chief Technology Officer

I am searching for the perfect candidate to join the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Department of an impressive company set to disrupt the drug discovery industry. This candidate must be a skilled leader with experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive modelling. With the ultimate goal of target discovery and the creation of treatments, the successful candidate will spearhead the development and application of novel machine learning techniques for the analysis of biological data, with a focus on transcriptome and proteome analysis for quantitative signalling.

Responsibilities

• You will oversee Research Biology's AI/ML department comprised of Computational biologists, bioinformaticians, machine learning scientists, and AI engineers.
• You will conduct research on machine learning techniques for the analysis of biological data and use these techniques to actively advance science.
• Work closely with the wet-lab team, biologist and chemists, with an understanding of the experiments that are taking place.
• You will also be expected to contribute to and drive publications, and present results at internal and external scientific meetings.
• Ensuring that AI initiatives align with the company's overall business objectives and adhere to ethical principles.
• Communicating the company's AI efforts to stakeholders, including investors, customers, and the public

Background

• A PhD in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, applied mathematics, scientific machine learning, operations research, computational genomics, or a related field.
• Multiple years’ experience in a Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry environment.
• In depth experience designing, developing, and deploying solutions using AI/ML approaches in an R&D setting for target identification, combination therapy, and drug development.
• Multiple years’ experience programming experience in Python, R, Perl, Java, Julia, etc. Track record of leading data-driven initiatives that impact decision making.
• Extensive expertise and experience in reviewing and developing projects utilising standard AI/ML techniques.
• To lead cross-functional teams, you must have demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding of various data types used in clinical and molecular research, such as single-cell transcriptomics and proteomics, and how they can be combined to aid in the drug discovery process.
• Capability to publish and present novel AI/ML applications and methods.
• Experience working with advanced computing systems and cloud-based technology platforms.
• Working knowledge of the MLOps platform.
