Job Summary

We are currently looking to recruit an Associate Buyer based on our Safety Assessment site in Tranent, East Lothian. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager, the Associate Buyer will perform a variety of purchasing duties and maintain records and files pertinent to purchasing information, and assigned operational tasks and responsibilities related to the purchase made by the business, and to support related procurement activities as required.

The main responsibilities are included below:
  • Manage and responsible for the purchase and supply of all procured goods and services to ensure that the company's operational needs
  • Purchase routines such as:
    • Process requisitions, following up on quotes to support the issuing of purchase orders tracking orders.
    • Compile, record, and track pertinent purchasing data in order to maintain data accuracy of the purchasing systems.
    • Update stakeholders of the status of orders. Within prescribed limits, take actions to ensure on-time delivery of material.
    • Determine the best source for needed material/services and make recommendations to the buyers.
    • Compile, record and track purchasing activities and pricing data to identify and pursue cost saving opportunities. If applicable, negotiating with suppliers, maintaining cost effectiveness and competitive terms are secured at all time.
    • Coordinate return of rejected or unsuitable orders.
    • Provide relevant support to resolve supplier invoicing issues.
  • Support the vendor onboarding and vendor master data update and maintain good quality data of purchase order.
  • Collaborate with buyers on daily activities and special projects.
  • Liaise with Global Procurement Category and Process team members on projects.


The following are minimum requirements for the Associate Buyer role:
  • Degree or equivalent in related field.
  • Related experience and/or training.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision, make decisions and handle multiple deadlines. Familiarity with company products and purchasing needs.

Salary for this role will be dependent on skills and experience.

  Here in Scotland, based at our site in Tranent, East Lothian, we offer a complete array of Safety Assessment services from complete IND-enabling programs to stand-alone preclinical studies, our preclinical CRO services provide a full range of in vivo and in vitro testing evaluations and regulatory support for the safety assessment of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and animal health products as well as chemicalsagrochemicals, and biocides. Our scientific and regulatory staff develop and execute individual preclinical studies or customized programs to ensure that drug efficacy and safety assessments are conducted in the most efficient manner.
