We are recruiting for our global Medical Team and are keen to speak with physicians with a specialism in Neurosciences. The group plays a pivotal role in the drug development process through strategic consulting, medical monitoring and clinical trial development.

The leader will bring a track record of success in previous roles and be able to demonstrate strong leadership, therapeutic and business acumen. The Executive Medical Director will drive new initiatives and ideas and also be highly agile in order to adopt and bring to life new ideas and innovations to enhance business, culture and processes.

Key responsibilities

This role requires professional leadership and management capabilities, necessary to lead a large-scale medically led organization, together with managing across a complex global organization and delivering exceptional client performance for a pharmaceutical services-oriented CRO business. You will have a proven track record as an agent of change in challenging environments and in fostering a confident and capable workforce.
  • Participates in process improvement activities across Labcorp Drug Development
  • Contributes or may lead the development of Labcorp Drug Development policies and processes involving medical, safety and therapeutics
  • Identifies potential areas for improvement in departmental processes
  • Partners with Global Clinical Operations to develop new, and enhance existing, client relationships
  • Provides leadership and presents medical/scientific capabilities to clients as a participant of a proposal team
  • Leverages known, and builds new, relationships with investigators/sites to perform site/investigator feasibility and support optimal recruiting and conduct of trials
  • Presents or serves on panels to represent the company at conferences and scientific meetings
  • Utilizes knowledge and understanding of business environment to create new business opportunities
  • Serves a point of contact for key clients for business oversight and client relationships
  • Provides mentoring to and responsible for the oversight, career development and evaluation of Clinical Research Physicians, Associate Medical Directors, Medical Directors and Senior Medical Directors
  • May have managerial responsibility in regard to specific therapeutic sub-specialty within the TA or geographic region
  • Involved in providing departmental budget preparation and oversight activities
  • Acts as deputy for the TA Head as needed
  • Contributes to vision and strategy/direction for the TA
  • Develops training modules and materials as required, and provides training in disease areas and protocol specific requirements across the company
  • Participates in training opportunities to advance knowledge of drug development and good clinical practice guidelines
  • Oversight and review of escalated issues/gaps and proposals for process improvement and initiatives
  • Performs medical data review; reviews laboratory values, adverse events, coding dictionaries and data tables, listings and figures as needed
  • Provides input, review and revision of protocols, case report forms, training materials, project specific tools, analysis plans design, clinical trial reports and new drug applications
  • Prepares materials for investigator meetings
  • Actively participates in investigator meetings
  • Responsible for medical and safety monitoring on assigned projects
  • Participates in feasibility discussions relating to specific project proposals
  • Participates in project risk assessment activities
  • Provides evaluation and oversight of medical data review performed by central medical data reviewers
  • Reviews and/or assists with medical monitoring scope of work/hours and budget discussions as required for new proposals and assigned studies
  • Provides oversight of Project and Medical Management to ensure timeliness and quality of medical deliverables and assigns physician resources as required
  • Maintains subject matter expertise through ongoing continuing medical education (CME) or clinical work as well as attendance at relevant conference/meetings
  • Provides out of hours medical cover as required




Education
  • MD degree required
  • Relevant sub-specialty (Neuroscience) fellowship training and history of board certification preferred



Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a related function and field, postgraduate training can be substituted by relevant expertise
  • Recognized as a clinical research leader within their therapeutic area with substantial knowledge of drug development and extensive clinical research experience within the pharmaceutical/industry in a specific therapeutic area, which can be a substitute for the board certification specialization, as appropriate
  • Extensive experience in the neuroscience field is required
