Head of Preclinical Research – T-cell Immunotherapy Focused Startup

My client is a well-funded and rapidly expanding Stealth Mode Biotech company developing the latest generation of T Cell Immunotherapies to fight cancer. They are currently looking for senior scientific leader at a VP or SVP level to grow and lead a team focused on IND enabling activities for a new generation of immunotherapies.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with company leaders to develop and execute the Preclinical R&D strategy, evaluate new opportunities, and initiate additional pipeline programs.
• Lead and manage scientists involved with the research and development of preclinical cell therapy programs
• Provide scientific and intellectual guidance to scientists and research associates in the R&D group.
• Plan, develop and prioritize R&D efforts and ensure internal resources are allocated correctly.
• Keep up to date on the latest developments in cell therapy, attend and/or present at applicable scientific conferences.
• Ensure effective cross-function communication, teamwork, and collaborations with internal and external partners.
• Contribute to invention disclosure and patent applications which enhance the Company’s intellectual property portfolio.

Skills and Qualifications

• PhD or MD-PhD degree in molecular and/or cell biology or other applicable discipline.
• Minimum 10 years biotech industry experience specializing in cell therapy and Immuno-oncology
• Track record of developing life sciences products through research and development into commercial readiness.
• Relevant industry experience in managing scientists and leading research projects is required.
• Must have the ability to critically and analytically evaluate scientific data to move projects forward.
• Effective in a team environment, able to mentor and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
