THE POSITION

In this position within our global IT organization, you will have the opportunity to impact the development of Digital Products at Boehringer Ingelheim through providing a modern and state-of-the-art Kubernetes container platform infrastructure.

As Openshift Engineer, you will administer, maintain, and advance Boehringer Ingelheim’s global Openshift PaaS Infrastructure, on premise and in the cloud.

You will work in a global, diverse product team with like-minded colleagues and will be able to collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues from different departments, within IT and Business.

This position can be filled in Ingelheim or Biberach.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • You will manage Openshift container platform clusters across multi-cluster Kubernetes environments applying GitOps methodologies.
  • Additionally, you will identify, install, and assess the value of tools of the Kubernetes ecosystem.
  • You will develop, improve, and review Openshift cluster configurations.
  • Advancing the architectural strategy and technical roadmap of the container platform technologies will also be part of your tasks.
  • To enable the development and deployment of business applications, you will be partnering with engineers, administrators, architects, developers, and project managers.
  • With your expertise, you will act as a mentor and coach the developer and engineer community.
  • Finally, you will create and maintain the System Life Cycle documentation.


Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in IT, engineering or related field or comparable working experience
  • Several years of working experience in an international IT environment as well as first experience in working with and administrating Enterprise Kubernetes infrastructures
  • Solid understanding of Linux/UNIX operating systems as well as knowledge of various scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python, ...)
  • Hands-on working experience with Public Cloud providers like AWS, Azure; knowledge of persistent storage technologies, e.g. NetApp Ontap. would be a plus
  • Strong communication, customer-oriented skills, and strong motivation to work in an agile operating model
  • Strong command of the English language (both verbal and written)
