Position Summary

Primary direct responsibility for Japan and other APAC markets, support the Benefits Business Partner, APAC & Japan, in multiple other countries, as needed, in contributing to develop global benefits program management strategy, design and governance. As primary contact for some of APAC Market lead is responsible for designing and developing forward looking global benefits and wellbeing programs that are aligned to Company, Talent, Business and TR Strategy and benefit guiding principles, ensuring governance/compliance, assessing financial impact and managing global benefits-related projects. This role is also responsible for proper analysis and deployment of all Work Life programs in partnership with Work Life COE strategists. The position partners closely with various stakeholders including local market leaders, human resources, finance/tax, legal, global procurement, local consultants, and People Services. This position is externally focused and also partners with and helps to manage external vendors and consultants.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • SME on all benefits and wellbeing matters for market(s) of primary responsibility and point person for the business. Manages all escalation from People Services, HRBPs, and senior leaders for respective markets oversight of all benefits and wellbeing plans.
  • Design and development of new programs and/or changes to existing benefit plans to align with our new Bio Pharma culture and business strategy. This includes analyzing competitive practice; assessing financial implications; legal & regulatory compliance; and alignment with business and benefits strategy
  • Manages compliance and governance of all pension/savings plans (including participating/driving local Pension Committee meetings, Trustee Boards (assume Fiduciary responsibility), where needed based on local legislation.
  • Experience with conducting employee consultation process and Works Council engagement maybe needed
  • Oversee global/local broker management for specific market related to design and multinational pooling networks
  • Oversees vendor management, security reviews when required, for all employee benefit/ insurance policies and pension programs
  • Uses analytics to support benefit planning decisions on a regional and enterprise level and conducts benchmark benefits reviews routinely
  • Continuously monitors worldwide economics, politics and legislation to anticipate employee benefit impact and ensure BMS plans are always compliant
  • Assists in developing and implementing effective and thoughtful communications and marketing of all benefit & wellbeing programs
  • Recommends and helps to simplify process improvements for benefits, wellbeing, work life plans. Partners very closely with People Services to ensure benefits operations is aligned with benefit design and strategy.
  • Market responsibility is subject to change based on business needs


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and four to six years of progressively responsible positions in benefits, experience with international benefits programs and administration a must. MBA or equivalent preferred in HR management or related field
  • Japan and Asia Pacific or global benefit design experience preferred
  • Experience with a full array of benefits programs including retirement plans, medical plans, wellbeing, life, AD&D, disability plans, inclusive benefit programs, Paid Time Off, work/life benefits, recognition and benefit allowances
  • Experience in analyzing competitive benefit practices. Solid technical knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of general HR principles and policies
  • Ability to lead project teams from the design to the implementation stage Experience working in a matrix organization and Shared Service environment a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • Experience with desk tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and in general, Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual skills strongly preferred, preferentially in Japanese, English and other languages.
