The Head of Logistics has primary responsibility for the day-to-day operational activities of the warehouse facility. In particular the role has the key responsibility for resource management to support current and projected activity levels.
The role may be required to participate in Project Management and client meetings. In addition to these meetings the Head of Logistics will participate in audits and assist in the preparation for regulatory and client audits.
The Head of Logistics is responsible for maintaining and overseeing inventory and supplies by receiving, storing, and delivering items. The Head of Logistics will also oversee pharmaceutical supply chain operations at PCI. The role will ensure lean warehousing methodology is employed to maintain the highest possible efficiency possible within a GMP environment. This will incorporate allocation of appropriate logistics personnel and operation of adequate controlled storage facilities in consultation with Business Development and the General Manager. This role will support S&D business development activities, as necessary.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Plan, co-ordinate and monitor the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods.
- Ensure orders are processed efficiently and that the delivery of materials meets customers timescales/requirements.
- Supervise and control order picking, goods in, goods out operations to ensure accurate with minimum handling and stock damage.
- Organise, facilitate and manage stock takes at regular intervals.
- Ensure that all relevant procedures and processes are followed and adhere to in line with the company's procedures and requirements.
- Deliver the clinical trial cohorts to the customer on time, every time using appropriate methods.
- Identify errors and eliminate root cause using robust countermeasures.
- Deliver efficiencies to support year on year operational budget reduction.
- Monitor and maintain stock accuracy by ensuring the physical stock is in line with the warehouse management system and ensure all stock movements are recorded to ensure accuracy.
- Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring that they are understood and practiced by the team members at all times.
- Manages logistics staff training and performance management.
- Responsible for Facility maintenance in line with PCI SOPs
- Preparation and review of documentation as required including MBRs, SOPs, IQs, URS.
- Participation in Project Management, Client and Audit meetings.
- Any other tasks/ projects as required by the Manager.
Your Skills & Experience
- Previous industry experience in pharmaceutical logistics & supply chain.
- Documented cGMP Training
- Excellent written and verbal skills with good attention to detail
- Bachelor of Science, Engineering or equivalent.
- Clinical Trial logistics experience
- Management role in international pharmaceutical supply chain
- Experience with ERP systems, JDE desirable
- High level of professionalism, ethics, quality of work, communication and responsiveness at all times
