Be responsible for a portfolio of new chemical entity projects, lead global, cross-functional teams, and provide a key contribution in advancing our development portfolio to deliver new medication for patients and to assure long-term profitability of a globally leading and family-owned pharmaceutical company.

As a Project Leader, you combine a sound experience in pharma industry with expertise in a key area of nonclinical NCE drug development. Additionally, you have proven leadership skills and are able to represent your projects in an international project strategy team.

Tasks & responsibilities


  • In your new role, you will steer and drive all nonclinical development activities of new chemical entities (small molecules and/or peptides/oligonucleotides) by leading an international, cross-functional R&D team of experts from different departments in collaboration with Medicine and Marketing.
  • As R&D Lead in international Asset Teams, you will represent all nonclinical strategic and operational aspects of product development (e.g. Toxicology, DMPK, CMC).
  • In addition, you will be responsible to define and implement the nonclinical strategy, including developability and risk assessments, the timely provision of nonclinical regulatory documents and the interaction with external partners.
  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for all nonclinical aspects of in-depth evaluations of licensing opportunities and BI-internal proposals for new indications, formulations, and combinations.
  • You will frequently present the status, progress, budget and critical issues of your projects at steering committees and prepare project decisions.
  • The leading of strategic initiatives to improve the drug development process at Boehringer Ingelheim completes your profile.


Requirements

  • PhD. or master’s degree in Natural- or Life Sciences with several years of international experience in the pharmaceutical industry and in one of the key areas of nonclinical drug development
  • Proven leadership skills either as project leader or as disciplinary lead in line functions
  • Agile and entrepreneurial thinking paired with the ability to focus on key aspects
  • Pronounced sense of urgency and accountability
  • Excellent communication skills in English, optional also in German
