The role
Develop and lead the promotional scientific content of client communication programs with a focus on commercial and medical strategy, key messages, content and overall quality of all educational materials, in conjunction with relevant colleagues within the business unit and external contacts.

What we expect from you

Scientific Acumen and Strategy

  • Thorough understanding of principles and processes underlying the various components of a communication program (from ad boards to speaker training)
  • Develop and write strategically-focused content aligned with product marketing goals and objectives
  • Develop strategic medical education frameworks including topic ideas, outlines, agendas, and rationale forms
  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans in close collaboration with client/account teams.
  • Ability to develop probing discussion questions and design workshops to assure appropriate feedback from thought-leaders
  • Manages feedback (thought-leader, and client medical, marketing, and leadership) to ensure comments/concerns addressed appropriately
  • Research, write, annotate, edit and proof copy to the highest standard (scientific and grammatical) for a full range of educational materials and target audiences.
  • Manage/co-ordinate materials through internal/client/speaker approval, creative/design/production to print, according to procedures.
  • Accurate/precise implementation of client/opinion leader corrections
  • Contribute to the development of new business and proposals wherever possible (existing and new clients).

Communications

  • Present authoritatively and with credibility to thought-leaders, client commercial, medical and scientific staff
  • Possess excellent medical writing skills and been exposed to a wide range of communication activities
  • Build successful relationships with senior client commercial and senior client scientific staff
  • Build successful relationships with internal teams within Medical and across agency
  • Identify and develop opinion leader relationships
  • Ensure highest standards of quality control and client service
  • Write, support or manage the delivery of defined sectors within a communication program.
  • Support and maintain team focus with colleagues across account team and within other departments
  • High-level mentoring of other scientific staff
  • Involvement with identification and delivery of scientific training needs across account team
  • Participate in development of strategic and tactical communication plans for assigned products
  • Contribute to overall team processes
  • Sharing ideas and best practice
  • Estimating of project hours for individual projects for proposals and SOWs
  • Monitoring of own time incurred on projects
  • Proactive request for feedback on time from account management
  • Diligent accurate completion of personal time sheets.

 

Background/experience and skills

  • Problem solving/diplomacy skills.
  • Good knowledge of therapeutic areas and therapies, plus the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Familiar with code of practice guidelines for medical copy/copyright issues.
  • Familiar with Pharma regulatory guidelines/issues
  • Presentation, interview and appraisal skills
  • Advanced life science (PhD, PharmD, MS) or medical (MD, DO) required;
  • Minimum 5+ years’ medical/scientific writing/editing experience
