The Business Development Director will be responsible for selling ICON's early phase clinical services across APAC region. You will be expected to travel in person to APAC region roughly 1 to 2 times per quarter to meet with already existing clients as well as meeting and developing relationships with new business prospects. Duties will include:
  • Recognise, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values which centre around our commitment to People, Clients and Performance.
  • Achieve annual sales target and related metrics
  • Develop and implement sales strategy across assigned clients
  • Build relationships with key decision makers at targeted accounts and maintain a high level of understanding of the decision making process with major Sponsors
  • Ensure that all proposal/contract details, clients' meetings, RFP information and relevant updates are captured and maintained within Sales force.
  • Contribute to the annual forecasting process in collaboration with the respective Senior Director.
  • Communicate regularly with operational project teams in order to secure the potential for repeat business and maximize opportunities for feedback.
  • Liaise with the Senior Director of Proposals and support the process of proposal completion and sponsor submission.
  • Manage the Bid Defence process
  • Contribute to ICON's growth as member of the Business development team
  • Achieve customer facing time of at least 40% of days available*
  • Demonstrate cross functional collaboration with the Functional and Therapeutic Heads beyond the proposal development process.
  • Maintain regular communications with the respective Senior Director and Vice President of Sales*.
  • Participate in weekly Sales Teleconference such as PNBR calls, Commercial affairs calls in order to give feedback on relevant updates.
  • Participate in company initiatives as directed by supervisor.


To be considered for this role you will need a strong understanding of early phase (phase I) clinical trials and ideally you will have a proven sales track record although we can provide sales training if needed. You will have strong communication skills both written and verbally.
