Summary of the Position :

We are seeking a highly motivated full-time Associate Director or Director with experience in either overall Alliance Management or vaccine development and commercialization who would like the opportunity to thrive, learn, and grow in a fast-paced, high-growth organization.

Location is flexible.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
  • Program development & execution:
    • Build working relationships with members of internal and external Alliance teams, program management teams, and functional sub teams to plan, schedule, monitor and control the execution of program and project activities, and integrated project timelines.
    • Independently identify, address, and escalate key program risks by managing ad hoc teams to develop solutions for decision by senior management.
    • Identify and internalize the fundamental Alliance strategy and the interdependencies of each specific Alliance strategy with Novavax’ overall organizational priorities
    • Oversee teams of cross functional SMEs to execute Alliance strategic goals and track contract deliverables and KPIs on a monthly and quarterly basis
    • Liaise between finance and accounting to oversee financial milestones and invoicing and payments by partners for deliverables of vaccine components and vaccine product
    • Implement updated strategic objectives as needed to continue program betterment as alliance objectives continue to evolve in the dynamic nature of COVID
    • Execute other duties as assigned to ensure programmatic success.
    • Ensure integration of cross functional departmental activities to gate program milestones and objectives
  • Project management:
    • Apply advanced project management tools, techniques, and best practices for issue and risk management: identification, mitigation, and escalation through the established project governance model.
    • Work with GPM to help manage the project plan and schedule, interact regularly with the project leads to status project activities, and facilitate meetings and project team discussions with assistance from program coordination provides by GPM.
    • Prepare project reports to internal and external stakeholders using established templates and processes; in particular, ensure submission of key deliverables to external funding organizations.
  • Team culture:
    • Help promote a culture of project and program excellence by applying best practices and standards in project and program management, and serve as a program management resource to functional areas.

Minimum requirements :
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred; degree in biological or chemical sciences preferred; or MBA with life sciences experience
    • A minimum of 7 years of project management experience in the biotech and pharma or related industries
    • Solid written and oral communication skills, and the ability to distill complicated issues into concise communications for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
    • Substantial experience in building and maintaining project plans using Microsoft Project is required.

Preferred qualifications :
  • PMP certification highly desirable.
  • Experience managing vaccine development programs is strongly preferred.
  • Candidate must be comfortable working with high-performing cross-functional teams and have an ability to engage and motivate teams to address mission-critical problems.
  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships across organizational disciplines, and throughout the organizational hierarchy.
  • Comfortable working on a dynamic, fast-paced environment, operating independently and as part of a team; openness to constructive feedback
