Role: Global Medical Affairs Leader - Vaccines

Package: Highly competitive, negotiable salary based on experience, car allowance, pension, healthcare and bonus and other benefits

Location: Cambridge UK - 4 days office, 1 day flex home based

As the Global Medical Affairs Leader, Vaccines you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives.

The Global Medical Affairs function ensures the best patient outcomes by providing healthcare decision-makers around the world with the evidence and confidence they need with the company’s product portfolio and supports our internal stakeholders with medical insight and expertise. This global role provides medical leadership with market participation and connectivity while also impacting the life cycle planning and execution of all our products. Medical Affairs aims to lead the company in achieving scientific leadership, being a great place to work, and keeping patients at the core of everything we do.

These capabilities include:

Experience supporting an indication, promotional claim and scientific exchange including input into clinical development plan 

Track record of building and maintaining a deep and continued connection to Medical Practice/healthcare delivery

Collaborative/matrix management skills with a focus on leading diverse groups (e.g., cultural, geographical, functional) to achieve excellent results in shared goals

Well-developed communication and influencing skills with the ability to distil complexity down to what matters to our stakeholders

Strong financial/budget and project management skills/business acumen

Key Responsibilities:

Designs and manages the implementation of Medical Biopharmaceutical product strategy globally and regionally

Create and develop the strategic direction, business/resource planning, and team leadership on a global level for the product, in collaboration with the Global Medical Head

Pro-active member of the Global Medical Team (GMT) to ensure global strategy is effectively communicated and executed at regional and country levels and that regional/country needs are appropriately accommodated in global deliverables and drive customer insights and market needs from all countries into Global Product Team for review

Cross-functional leadership and collaboration across all Medical BioPharmaceuticals functions 

Closely follows medical developments within Therapeutic Area (TA) and disseminates new information to transform clinical trends and emerging data into new plans

Liaises with the internal and external medical community

Deliver medical plan that drives successful launch of innovative and differentiated new medicines within the TA

Support team leader at TA Global Product Team and Global Brand Team

We are seeking a candidate who has strong technical, scientific and medical knowledge of the brand to drive understanding of the medical strategy across the organisation and to lead medical activities for the brand including advisory boards and symposia to advance clinical practice.

Qualifications:

Essential: Doctorate level (MD, PhD or Pharm D or equivalent)

The Person/Experience:

Essential Requirements:

Experienced in Global Medical Affairs or similar function and working cross-functionally across a large product team

Strong technical knowledge

Strong demonstration of strategic and medical leadership prowess at therapeutic area and/or senior leader meetings

Strong working relationships with Global leaders in vaccinology / respiratory medicine/ infectious diseases including KEEs, professional societies, pharmaceutical companies

Ability to fluidly flex between high level strategy and detailed tactics as required

Strong analytical mind-set and ability to quickly assess large amounts of information and distil into key messages and actions
