i-Pharm Consulting is now searching for a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the full product development lifecycle for a circa 50 headcount, combination device therapteutics company based in Sorrento Valley

As a key member of the Device Development team you are responsible for the design, development, modification and evaluation of integrated circuitry and parts for electronic equipment and hardware systems

You will be working closely on a next-generation novel smart pill with other software, electronics and mechanical engineers. To be successful you will need a strong knowledge of engineering, scientific and regulatory knowledge working within a CFR pt 820/ISO 13485 environment.

Responsibilities will include -

  • Pre-conception to production leadership for electricl engineering for compat medical devices
  • Independet repsonsibility for all stages of this complex product including design, validation, tooling, testing etc
  • Detailed creation of electrical design package to support reviews, testing, production
  • Review of designs and activities for compliance and to improve quality standards
  • Modeling and testing methodology evaluation and proposal for validation of components, circuits and hardware designs
  • Medical Device design, development, verification and validation to FDA standards including direct contribution to risk and quality documents and regualtory filings
  • Working with external contract development partners to ensure collaboration and compliance
  • Manages creation and deployment of software driven manufacturing and test tools at contract manufacturing organizations
  • Collaborates with internal and external engineers on PCB design, hardware functionality, architecture, and development

To be successful in this position you will have -

  • Experience in DFT and DFM practices for high-volume products
  • Strong expeirence in device product development, preferably in medical devices or drug/device combination products
  • Strong experirence of commercialising devices from pre-concept to production
  • Design Controls and experience with FDA QSR 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485
  • 5yrs electronics design, PCBA test, bring-up, and end product deployment using Altium Designer Experience working with 32bit Cortex-M microcontrollers for medical device embedded applications
  • Understanding of I2C, SPI, UART and other communication protocols
  • Strong familiarity with LT Splice and Tina TI Solid working knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal design principles and practices.
  • Schematic capture, board layout, ESD/EMI immunity
  • Experience with documentation control (ECO, rework instructions, etc)
  • Familiarity with low power systems, battery performance testing and power consumption
