THE POSITION: Post Doc in systems neuroscience within CNS Discovery Research


The CNS Department at Boehringer Ingelheim aims at the development of new medicines treating psychiatric disorders and is looking for a post doc with experience in systems neuroscience. The candidate will be embedded in a group of specialists engaged in research on all levels of brain functioning from genes to behaviour and will contribute to the elaboration of new therapeutic concepts to treat mental illness.

This position is limited for two years.

Tasks & responsibilities


  • In your new role, you will independently design and conduct behavioral experiments combined with in vivo assessment of circuit functions in rodents.
  • With your expertise, you contribute to the understanding and the validation of new therapeutic concepts for psychiatric diseases.
  • Moreover, you will present at internal / external meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • You will act in a stimulating environment as part of an interdisciplinary team of cellular and molecular biologists, electrophysiologists, and pharmacologists.


Requirements

  • PhD degree in Neuroscience, Biology or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of behavioral methods including automated behavioral analysis and complex data statistical analysis
  • Practical knowledge of stereotactic surgery and histological methods,
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of functional neuroanatomy and circuit-based methods
  • Background knowledge in psychiatric diseases preferred
  • Demonstrated track record in peer-reviewed scientific journals is an advantage
  • Willingness to work in a drug discovery-oriented environment with highly multidisciplinary skills is preferred
  • Very good communication skills as well as sound technical writing and documentation competencies in English
