If you're an experienced medical director who's open to a new challenge in leading an established and growing full services medical function this could be the opportunity for you.

Our client is a niche, well established global pharmaceutical business going through a renaissance in terms of culture, leadership and product portfolio. With an invigorated pipeline, fresh senior leadership and a genuine sense of growth it's an incredibly exciting time to join the organisation and make your mark.

You'll be a GMC registered medic with a solid background in leadership in industry. Your core expertise will be in medical affairs and you'll be a strong existing final signatory. You'll also have a good knowledge of the functions that sit closely with medical affairs including PV, MI, RA and to some extent GxP. You'll also be an outstanding leader capable of getting the best out of a diverse, highly skilled team.

We're looking for someone with a specific blend of assertiveness, diplomacy and collaborative skills. You'll be taking a strategic approach to engaging with commercial colleagues at the inception of all activities ensuring that medical are a driving force in all campaigns and projects. Alongside that we're looking for someone who can make the most of the constructive dynamic tension that results in great results. You'll be creative and have a solutions based approach while being super clear about your boundaries and what will and won't fly. We're dealing with a business that's committed to good practise and the code and they're looking for someone who'll be a strong champion for that.

In terms of leadership you'll be able to translate the overall vision for the company into a clear and aspirational sense of motivation for the team. You'll have experienced and expert people working under you so you'll need credibility and gravitas to add value.

We have some really clear and non negotiable requirements in terms of experience here.

  • You'll be a GMC registered medic. I'm afraid that in this instance non medics won't be considered by our client, even if they meet all the other criteria.
  • You'll be an experienced final signatory and able to ensure compliance with the ABPI and IPHA code.
  • You'll have strong existing leadership capabilities in the context of formal management of a team / department.
