THE POSITION

As a member of Boehringer Ingelheim’s Global Facilities & Engineering (GFE) division, the Global CAPEX Projects organization has been created to connect all competencies in one organization, ensuring steering, governance, standardization, knowledge, and skills to support strategic and large CAPEX projects with high quality services.
The simultaneous execution and multi-contracting model of strategic and large CAPEX projects gives many opportunities to personally evolve on a global level and act as a key function in projects.
The Global PMO team - being part of the Global CAPEX Projects organization - is seeking for a Claims Manager.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • As Claims Manager you report to the Head of Global PMO and functionally to the Project Manager in charge.
  • You support the Project and Construction Managers in all questions concerning claims management and co-ordination of appropriate activities with the technical and commercial departments.
  • In this role you propose a path forward on the subcontract / interface management strategy.
  • Furthermore, you collect and file all contractor claims and provide a weekly report to the Project Manager and clarify the background of claims with the responsible technical lead function and Contract Coordinator (e.g. planning error, undesigned, omitted).
  • Preparing technical, contractual, schedule and cost back-ups for claim negotiations with the construction contractors is part of your key tasks.
  • In addition, you develop strategies to reject claims or assess substantiated claims together with the responsible technical lead function to close claims with minimum time and cost impact in line with the contract.


Requirements

  • Master’s degree (e.g. MBA, MSc. M.Eng.) or Diploma degree in Engineering, Business Administration or Economics, or related fields
  • Several years of professional working experience in handling and management of claims and disputes on major engineering, procurement and construction related projects
  • Project management experience in large EPC projects, resource, cost and schedule estimation and forecasting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and SAP
  • Good understanding of international and interdisciplinary working environments,
  • Empathic communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to convince, motivate and lead people (in office and on site)
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken), German is a plus
  • Flexible schedule and the willingness to travel and relocate
