The Payroll Team Leader manages a team of Payroll Specialists and / or Coordinators, coordinating their daily activities and prioritizing workload, ensuring the delivery of a high quality, responsive and sufficient payroll service, for the EMEA / APAC countries under their responsibilities. The payroll Team Leader also ensures that statutory and SOX compliance requirements are being adhered to for the countries processed by their team. They will also promote and implement process excellence and process standardization across the countries under their remit.

Top duties :
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of a team of international payroll specialists and / or coordinators (30%)
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll delivery across different countries (20%)
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of payrolls and preparation of payroll journals for posting; partner with the IAS Accounting team for guidance and resolution of payroll accounting matters. (10%)
  • Act as the point of escalation on payroll and business queries; ensure timely resolution of issues. (10%)
  • Work closely with the Payroll Provider(s) and local HR Partners to ensure local compliance practices are being followed and all payroll/employment tax, government and local filings are being submitted in a timely manner (5%)
  • Partner with the vendors to ensure smooth service delivery and process improvements (5%)
  • Responsible for payroll audits, internal and external agencies in collaboration with IAS Accounting, Tax and Compliance depts (5%)
  • Monitor team performance; responsible for goal setting and performance review of the team (10%)
  • Lead the implementation of process standardization and process improvement in the team. (5%)


Essential job duties
  • Lead and supervise a team of Payroll Specialists and / or Coordinators, coordinating their daily activities and prioritizing workload.
  • Understand teams' payrolls and take necessary action to ensure seamless payroll service in event of absence or vacation of a team member.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing across different countries, in strict accordance with the relevant statutory requirements. Ensure adherence to the company global, operational payroll processes and procedures.
  • Promote the use of global payroll tools and prepare appropriate payroll calculations to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Effectively lead the team to ensure delivery of the Payroll team goals and objectives.
  • Monitor Payroll Team performance, timely address of performance issues and conduct the annual performance reviews.
  • Lead the yearly goal and objective setting of the team in accordance with the business strategy and policy; identify areas of improvement and address those in the individual development plans of the team.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager with the development and implementation of policies, practices and procedures.
  • Act as a Payroll Team focal point for internal communications, business and employees' requests, and projects coordination within the team.
  • Act as a single escalation point for employees' and managers' inquiries and be responsible for issue resolution or further escalation; Ensure timely responses for all payroll queries, as well as timely follow up and escalation with the vendors or the Payroll Team management where required.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager in improving the Payroll team efficiency; identify, promote and lead the implementation of process standardization and process improvements.
  • Take the lead on problem resolution of teams' payrolls or local audits; ensure appropriate and timely escalation as required.
  • Understand and offer guidance and review of LabCorp's Equity Program.
  • Review and approve salary payments, before these are passed to IAS accounting for further authorization in the bank.
  • Review and approve Labcorp payments to third parties, ensuring they are reconciled and made in accordance with both internal and statutory timetables.
  • Document and maintain payroll procedures manuals; Ensure all SOP documents of the team are reviewed and up to date.
  • Ensure compliance with the local country legislation and requirements, acting as the LabCorp point of contact for any enquiries arising from local statutory bodies (e.g. Tax and Social funds) or associated audits.
  • Partner with the payroll vendors and HR teams: a. to ensure smooth payroll service delivery; b. to promote process and service improvements; c. to ensure Year-End Statutory reporting to government are accurately done and on time.


Language skills : Proficiency in English (speaking and writing) is essential / Other local European languages are desirable but not essential

Education : Bachelor or master's degree in business management, finance or administration. Payroll or Accounting certifications are desirable.

Experience:

Years of experience in the job discipline - At least 3 years of experience in a similar role and at least 5 years of experience in processing international payrolls in a multinational work environment.

Years of experience in other professional roles - 2-3 years in HR or Accounting would be a plus

Other required work-related experiences -
  • Experience with end to end payroll processing including: time management, leave administration, statutory registration, pay processing, expenses payment, payroll taxes, reporting payment generation and handling complex payroll queries from employees, finance and statutory bodies
  • SOX and Statutory Audits experience
  • Good systems experience, preferably Workday.
  • Experience with Global Mobility and Equity plans
