Pharmacology Head - Discovery / R+D

A well-established biotech which has partnered with a large global pharmaceutical player is undergoing a considerable expansion. A position has opened for a head of pharmacology, who will lead and grow this team throughout this exciting transition and beyond… could this be you?

The applicant will need to be a scientific behemoth, with extensive knowledge in molecular and cellular biology and a strong background in all phases of discovery, equipped to take on both target based and phenotypic approaches.

You will have major input in developing the biology team and the organizations therapeutic programs. Areas in which your experience will be most desirable include small molecule drug discovery in vitro phenotypic assays (with translational relevancy) and knowledge in mitochondria.

Qualifications and experience

• PhD or equivalent, in Pharmacology (in vitro), biology (cellular and molecular) or related
• A decade or more of experience in drug discovery
• A proven track record of moving small molecules through the various pre clinical drug discovery
• Pharmacological expertise, experience with discovery related biophysical and biochemical techniques
• Expertise in discovery-geared screening cascades (target based and phenotypic)
• Profiling of compounds, identification of targets and validation, hit identification, up to optimization of leads
• Experience managing, mentoring and leading
• History overseeing external collaborators such as CRO’s
• Efficient and articulate communicator

For Bonus Points

• Familiarity in phenotypic screening platform and high content imaging platforms
• Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics interaction in relation to translation (in vivo/in vitro)
• Rare disease biological discovery, mitochondrial experience would align well with upcoming projects
