My client, a manufacturer of medical device components for the global medical device industry now has a vacancy for a Purchasing and Logistics Co-ordinator. This is a full-time permanent position based in Bray.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities: Logistics

  • Prioritise despatch of customer orders to meet promised dates.
  • Instil a consistent sense of urgency over product despatch on time, in full and right first time.
  • Communicate constantly with Purchasing, Production Planning, Production, Quality Assurance, External Contract Manufacturers and Warehousing to ensure that the correct materials and finished goods are where they should be, when they should be.
  • Liaise with customer and external hauliers to expedite despatch of goods to a predetermined and planned despatch schedule.
  • Keep all relevant parties constantly informed as to arrival and despatch schedules and any deviations from same.
  • Pro-actively update and communicate these schedules in a real time manner each day.
  • Develop a cohesive process to ensure customer satisfaction with their inbound logistics from us.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables: Purchasing

  • Develop strong commercial relationships with preferred suppliers.
  • Process all company purchase orders and expedite with suppliers.
  • Monitor goods arriving to promised dates.
  • Proactively manage open purchase orders report
  • Develop and maintain a listing of critical raw materials and consumables with Lead Times, preferred suppliers, economic Order quantities and minimum stock levels.
  • Pro actively manage stocks of critical consumables on a daily basis.
  • Order and expedite consumables based on expected usage, minimum stock trigger levels, lead times and EOQs.
  • Maintain EOQ, lead times and minimum stocks for key raw materials on the ERP system and order raw materials based on expected usage, minimum stock trigger levels, lead times and EOQs and resultant MRP suggested order pattern from the ERP system.
  • Seek continuous cost reduction through negotiation with suppliers.
  • Source new suppliers with improved costs without sacrificing quality.

Education & Desired Skills

  • Third level qualification in business/logistics/engineering
  • Experience in logistics Good experience of expediting freight inwards and outwards
  • Experience in a medical device or other regulated manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Plastic Injection Moulding and Tooling is a distinct advantage
