The Opportunity

The Project Delivery function at CSL Behring is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Broadmeadows site. This Full-Time Fixed-Term position (4 years) is responsible for oversight of design, operational and troubleshooting support for the HVAC system distribution. You will plan and manage small project teams and utilise your expertise in project management to deliver seamless and compliant outcomes. This role will focus on the project team delivering project outcomes on time and within budget while monitoring and controlling projects against the approved management plans and project management controls.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure that projects are managed in a way that recognises GMP and the need to actively manage the risk of non-compliance
  • Responsible for cGMP facility design and improvement projects (Cleanrooms, Labs, ISO classes, HVAC, Refrigeration, Freezers, Environmental rooms, etc)
  • Play an essential leadership role in the operation and troubleshooting of the utility systems
  • Responsible for providing engineering expertise to support the design, installation, commissioning, validation and operation of the above utility systems.
  • Support the planning and execution of activities by working in cross-functional teams
  • Undertake and assist others in the development of operational documents, maintenance manuals and training materials
  • Oversee and manage small to medium size projects
  • Develop and manage budget plans and control schedules
  • Maintain collaborate internal relationships with key stakeholders in the support and delivery of projects to completion to meet timeline and budget objectives
  • Provide support to the Project Delivery Team assisting with equipment submittal reviews, MEP specification and drawing reviews, FAT's/SAT's, turnover package reviews ensuring that the documentation is accurate and complete and meets specifications


To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or science discipline with 5+ years of experience in an engineering role in support of a large industrial, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or TGA regulated facility
  • Proven experience managing small-medium scale capital projects from inception to completion including but not limited to creating scope of work, justification, cost estimates, etc.
  • Understanding of technical documents such as Maintenance Plans, Task lists, System Specifications (URS, FRS), SAT, FAT, Commissioning & Qualification Protocols and Specifications, Validation Protocols
  • Experience with Quality Management and Change Control Systems
  • Strong level of technical knowledge in one Engineering discipline and the ability to solve problems in design, testing and deployment
  • Knowledge of project management principles as applied to large engineering and manufacturing operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and/or operation of HVAC, Water Purification Systems, Compressed Air and other Plant Utilities (Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with consultants and contractors, while interfacing with multiple departments, working with internal customers to manage projects, policy, and procedures
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills and the ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills
