Job Details

A global pharmaceutical company is looking to hire a Director of Patient Engagement to join them on a permanent basis.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a patient engagement and communications strategy and will strengthen patient focus by enhancing the way our client interacts with patient organisations, patients and carers and further the establishment of meaningful partnerships. The Director of Patient Engagement will ensure clinical development processes are inclusive of the patient voice and their experience.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute a patient group engagement and communications strategy ensuring alignment with company and project goals.
  • Develop strong relationships with international, pan-national, national and local patient groups, representatives from patient groups and appropriate Health Care Professionals, to establish the patient population’s needs and build partnerships in the therapy area.
  • Lead patient engagement activities to build patient trust and increase patient participation in clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholder groups to support Health Technology Assessment (HTA) activities.
  • Develop and execute programs to raise internal awareness for patient engagement, to enhance patient engagement capability.
  • Monitor progress against targets. Develop appropriate KPIs to monitor and report the performance of programs

Candidate Requirements:

  • A university degree in a related field, such as communications, public policy or health care.
  • Significant demonstrable professional experience in patient advocacy or communications.
  • Good understanding of Clinical Development and multi-disciplinary experience
  • Awareness of US and European regulatory positions in relation to Patient-Focused Drug Development.
  • A thorough understanding of compliance and expectations related to patient engagement
  • Experience of working with & knowledge of R&D business processes, regulatory and compliance environment.
  • Highly skilled in establishing and building networks.
  • Ability to handle a complex, multiple stakeholder environment internally as well as externally.
  • Proven ability to both independently complete, and lead peers in completion of complex plans, related documents, appropriate methodologies, measures, analytical plans and evaluation tools
  • A passion for advocacy and for making a difference for patients by engaging with integrity in the patient organisation
  • Willingness to work in Central London 2-3 days per week
