Product Design Engineer - Medical Devices - Brisbane, QLD

This is a rare opportunity to join a leading medical devices company. Full management and execution of Australian IPS® cases within the IPS® service team structure from case initiation to production pass-off through high-quality execution of data collection, conversion, planning and design responsibilities. This role is the link between surgeon, sales, production, and quality.

KEY DUTIES

  • Responsible for the complete product range of IPS® Product (Individual Patient Solutions)
  • Communicating technical and engineering knowledge to the customer by a variety of methods (email, reports)
  • Collaborates and coordinates between multiple departments: production, product management, and quality
  • Simulation of surgeries for the customer (surgeons and medical professionals) and competent communication of technical information
  • Designing IPS® products for surgical use & Creation of surgical reports
  • Research and development of medical products
  • Develop strong relationships with surgeon and product champions who will influence broader market acceptance of KLS Martin's surgical technologies.
  • Attendance at local, state and national conferences.
  • Maintain strong, positive and cooperative working relationships with the wider national, regional and international team.
  • Develop positive working relationships with industry associations and government representatives as required.

  • Medical device product knowledge.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in MS-Office suite/Office 365 Environment and Adobe
  • Programming experience preferred (Python, Matlab, or other applicable industry language).
  • Design experience (Freeform, MIS)
  • Ability to retrieve and interpret documentation.
  • Customer support skills.
  • Able to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Able to efficiently communicate and collaborate amongst a team.
  • Problem solving, Critical thinking, Decision making, adaptability & flexibility.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • S. Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Bioengineering, or Biomedical) or equivalent qualification from an EA accredited or recognised program.
  • Understanding of human anatomy, medical device design, general product design and development.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications

Preferences

  • Eng or previous relevant engineering experience preferred.
  • Member of Engineers Australia (occupational category: Professional Engineer, minimum level: GradIEAust). Preference for NER status.
  • Modeling software experience
  • Medical device experience
  • Data management experience
