Job Details

This global organisation acts as a funding and facilitation group for the development of vaccines for target pathogens for global health.

Due to continued growth of the organisation, further investments and a growing portfolio of programs, they are seeking an experienced vaccine development R&D professional to join them as a Global Project Leader.

Role responsibilities include:

  • You will lead several vaccine R&D projects ensuring strategic oversight, scientific excellence and successful delivery of the projects.
  • Working with external vaccine development partners, you will ensure that the activities are performed according to the integrated product development plan and seek ways to improve performance, advance the scientific agenda and accelerate the project.
  • You will also represent the organisation in governance meetings (eg joint monitoring and advisory committee) with the partners.
  • Using your expertise and experience in vaccine development, you will identify areas where capacity is needed and where subject matter experts should provide support to the partners
  • Identify potential technical issues or obstacles and work with the partners to resolve them.
  • Internally you will contribute to stage gate and portfolio analysis process, work with the other project managers and team members to foster critical thinking and ensure that opportunities to improve project deliverables are seized.
  • You will also ensure communication excellence for the projects both internally and externally for the organisation.

Who we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in pharmaceutical industry or non-profit vaccine development in a multi-disciplinary, global environment and with experience of working in a global matrix team.
  • Experience of leading vaccine R&D projects
  • End-to-end, in-depth knowledge of vaccine development (from research to late stage development, licensure and implementation) with a broad knowledge of vaccine R&D including pre-clinical and clinical development, translational sciences, CMC and regulatory.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build trust with external partners and manage a team of experts in a matrix international environment.
  • Experience of continuously seeking improvements in team performance, deliverables and scientific excellence in the field of vaccines, including novel technologies that accelerate activities and lower project-related risks.

Interpersonal skills - be an active team player, able to work in different cultural environments, negotiate timelines and develop effective international collaboration

Flexibility and tolerance to best manage change and differing opinions with diplomacy and competence.

Education requirements:

An advanced degree (PhD and/or MD) in relevant field.

Location:

Flexible on home office location

This role will require a proportion of international travel (up to 20-30%)
