We are currently seeking applications for Laboratory Technician Apprentices to join the Laboratory Management Team.  As well as completing the required academic study with our academic and training partners, you will be supporting the smooth running of the day-to-day activities of our laboratories under the supervision of the Laboratory supervisor.

Apprenticeship Length                  2 Years.

Oxford Biomedica’s Laboratory Management Team is accountable for the smooth running of the day-to-day activities of the laboratories including cleaning, waste management, stock control and overseeing equipment servicing and calibration.

 

Your responsibilities in this role would be:

  • Adherence to internal and external regulatory requirements e.g. GLP, GMP, GDP
  • Supporting the laboratory waste management processes, including operation of lab washers and autoclaves.
  • Supporting facility and equipment cleaning schedules within OXB laboratory suites in accordance to approved standard operating procedures.
  • Overseeing, maintaining, and ensuring stock of lab consumables, media, solutions and buffers.
  • Supporting the Microbiology lab with sample testing with a range of microbiology techniques
  • Maintaining safe working practices, following environmental, health and safety procedures within the laboratory facility. Supporting review Risk assessments, COSHH and MSDS data sheets
  • Maintaining equipment records for maintenance and calibration
  • Accurate record keeping and documentation

We are looking for :

 

 

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) – grades A – C including Science, Maths and English
  • Alternative experience and qualifications will be considered
  • Keen interest within Life Sciences and/or Advanced Therapies
  • Good communication skills in English (Written and verbal)
  • Ability to read, understand and follow detailed instructions to complete tasks accordingly
  • Good standard of computer literacy & keyboard skills
